Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that the State Government would initiate the formation of a company for waste disposal.

The State Cabinet had given in-principle approval for setting up an entity on the lines of Cochin International Airport Ltd., 26 per cent of whose equity is held by the State Government and the rest by the private sector.

He said this while reviewing the functioning of a mobile incinerator brought here from Ahmedabad. It will operate in two shifts of eight hours each.

If successful, more such vehicles will be commandeered by the State Government, Chandy said.
