The official news on Rajinikanth-starrer ‘Kochadaiiyaan’, touted to be the country’s first photorealistic performance capture film, is finally out. It will be hitting theatres worldwide on April 11, according to an announcement made by the film’s director Soundarya Rajinikanth in Mumbai on Monday.
There has been a lot of speculation about the film’s release among fans of the iconic actor, and Twitter has been abuzz with several fans predicting that the film would get a summer release.
The statement announcing the film’s release was issued by the producers Eros International and Media One Global Entertainment. It noted that the photorealistic performance capture of the film would be similar to the one used in Hollywood blockbusters ‘Avatar’, ‘Tintin’ and ‘Beowulf’.
The film stars Rajinikanth, Deepika Padukone, R. Sharath Kumar, Nazar, Aadi and Shobana, among others. Oscar-winning music director A.R. Rahman has scored the music.
“Following last year’s celebrations of India’s film-making centenary, we view the release of ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ as part of the next step of Indian cinema. For the first time, a full-length feature film has been made using performance capture technology in India and I truly hope this creates a whole alternate film-making avenue apart from live action films in our country,” the press release quoted Soundarya as saying.
