The Trinamool Congress on Saturday announced its decision to bring a ‘no-confidence motion’ against the Congress-led coalition Government at the Centre. The decision comes after the UPA-II announced the opening up of the retail sector and a reduction in the cap on subsidised LPG cylinders.
The ‘no-confidence motion’ would be brought during the Winter Session of Parliament, Trinamool supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said. The Winter Session starts from November 22 . The decision was taken at the party’s Parliamentary Committee meeting.
“We feel that the UPA-II has lost all moral responsibility to run the Government. We will bring in a no-confidence motion on the first day of the Winter Session of Parliament,” Banerjee told reporters at Writers’ Building here.
According to Banerjee, Trinamool Chief Whip in the House, Sudip Bandopadhyay, would move the motion and he will be seconded by Sougata Roy. Roy would also initiate discussions on behalf of the party.
Banerjee further added that her party was open to discussions with both the BJP and the Left Front — including the CPI (M) — on the motion.
“It’s a matter of great concern. The UPA-II is selling off the country. And we welcome all parties to support our no confidence motion and throw out the UPA-II,” she added.
