Security women protect West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during a protest by SBI activists on her arrival at Yojana Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was, on Wednesday, admitted to a private hospital for check-up. Banerjee’s condition is, however, said to be stable.

Initial investigations reveal she was suffering from a low pressure.

According to State Commerce and Industry Minister, Partha Chatterjee, the Chief Minister, who returned from Delhi earlier this day, was having a low pressure and was taken to the hospital.

Meeting cancelled

Mamata Banerjee’s scheduled meeting with the Union Finance Minister, P. Chidambaram, in Delhi today was cancelled and she returned to the city this afternoon.

Earlier, on Tuesday, SFI members allegedly blocked the Chief Minister's passage and heckled Finance Minister Amit Mitra in front of Yojna Bhavan, while they were headed for a meeting with the members of Planning Commission.

The chief minister reportedly fell ill, subsequently, and was administered oxygen, while Mitra was put under observation at AIIMS.
