Mangaluru’s Naran’s to enter Bengaluru

The Mangaluru-based Sarasija Foods, which markets bakery products under the brand name ‘Naran’s’, is planning to expand in other parts of Karnataka.

Addressing presspersons in Mangaluru on Wednesday, Nedle Ram Bhat, Managing Director, said the company is celebrating its silver jubilee this year, and is planning to expand its market in other parts of the state.

The company is setting up a production facility in Mysuru to cater to the requirements of markets in Mysuru, Mandya and Bengaluru regions, he said.

Naran’s product range includes bread, rusk, namkeens to a traditional sweet dish of the region called ‘holige’.

He said Naran’s Mangaluru facility caters to markets in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, Chikmagaluru, Hassan and Kodagu districts in Karnataka and two northern districts in Kerala.

The Mangaluru facility has a production capacity of 10 tonnes a day. Around 70 bakery food products are produced and marketed under the brand name ‘Naran’s’. At present, the company has a fleet of 35 vehicles to supply products in the market.

Asked about the new products from the company, Bhat said the company will launch brown bread made from whole wheat soon.

The company has also initiated the process of redesigning the wrappers of its food products. To begin with, white bread and milk bread products of the company are being marketed in the new packages.

He said the company, which began with a few thousand rupees 25 years ago, achieved a turnover of ₹20 crore in 2015-16.
