Mercedes-Benz today inaugurated its first luxury car workshop in Salem.
Santosh Iyer, Vice-President, after-sales, retail training, Mercedes Benz India and Sharath Vijayaraghavan, Executive Director, Sundaram Motors, inaugurated the facility.
Spread across 15,000 sq feet, the workshop located in Konerikarai has five bays dedicated for maintenance and repair.
Sundaram Motors Salem has helped the luxury car manufacturer create brand awareness about the workshop.
Mercedes Benz Is looking to strengthen its after-sales footprint by expanding its network.
Santosh Iyer said four new after-sales outlets would be opened in the next four weeks - one each - in Trichur and Chennai and two in Mumbai.
On growth, he said “although double-digit growth seemed a challenge at the beginning of the year, the market stabilised and we actually managed to achieve 19.5 per cent growth during the first nine months of the current calendar year compared to the corresponding period of 2016."
The number of cars sold between January-September 2017 is 11,869, he said.
