The footpath and front of a two-storey residential building sunk 10-15 mm in the Chennai Metro Rail's tunnel between Shenoy Nagar and Koyambedu. Work on a cross passage work for emergency exit is going on underground, said an official of Chennai Metro Rail Ltd.
Cracks developed in a number of places in the building located on the 8th Cross Road at Shenoy Nagar. After the incident in the morning, people evacuated the building but returned in the evening after CMRL officials assured the residents that there was no major threat due to the incident. Nobody was injured in the incident, the official said.
