Microsoft IT India is likely to set up a 'Centre of Excellence' in West Bengal, IT Minister Partha Chatterjee said here on Tuesday.
Microsoft’s Centre of Excellence helps companies design, develop and integrate business solutions.
According to the Minister, the State Government will soon take a call on providing space to Microsoft to set up its Centre of Excellence.
“The legal department will soon take a call on finalising the space to be provided to Microsoft. After that, we will sign the necessary MoUs,” he said while speaking at a seminar organised by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
According to sources, Microsoft is likely to get a space in the IT hub of Sector V, Salt Lake, on the eastern fringes of the city. Time frames, however, were not specified.
According to Raj Biyani, Managing Director, Microsoft IT-India, plans are in an early stage of discussion and the details are still being worked out.
Microsoft currently has two engineering centres - one each in Hyderabad and Bangalore.
