The Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (MILMA) is planning to increase the price of milk by Rs 5 a litre, a top official of MILA said here.
Talking to reporters here today, P.T. Gopala Kurup, chairman, MILMA, said the Federation’s Programming Committee, which met here had recommended for an increase of Rs 5 a litre of milk on the recommendation of a sub-committee constituted and also considering the increase in the cost of production.
The committee had also recommended increasing the price of MILMA cattle feed by Rs 200 to 250 for a 50 kg bag, he said.
The Director Board of MILMA at its meeting here today had assigned the chairman to take a final decision on the milk price hike, he said.
An announcement on the hike would be declared on Thursday, after considering various factors, Kurup said.
