Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Ministers Office, defended the government’s stance on the proposed changes to the Right to Information (RTI) Act, stating that rules are being framed and nothing has been finalised yet.
Speaking to media persons at the Indian Women’s Press Corps here on Monday, Singh, who is also the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, “the proposed changes will not result any dilution or curtailment and there is no intention of doing so”.
“The government has gone the extra mile to ensure there is greater transparency and accountability. Everything is online now and most of the information that was sought through RTI is now on the website,” Singh said.
