Congress leader and Union Minister of State for Railways Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said the West Bengal Government is “scared” to go for panchayat polls in the backdrop of Saradha money collection scam.
“The current Government is delaying the Panchayat polls as it is scared of losing if elections are held now,” Chowdhury told reporters here.
On the Trinamool Congress-led State Government’s performance during the two years in power, he said it was “dismal”.
He added that Mamata Banerjee’s Government was so “impervious” that it did not pay heed to the plight of people affected in the Saradha scam that mobilised more than Rs 20,000 crore from people through ponzi schemes.
