Indian Immunologicals Ltd on Friday vaccinated hundreds of pet animals for Rabies to mark World Zoonoses Day. The Hyderabad-based PSU animal vaccine maker held ‘mobile vaccination camps’ in the city starting from Naihati in North 24 Pargana this morning.
According to a release, IIL, in association with state Animal Husbandry Department, has been vaccinating more than 2000 canines per years. Of the 55,000 people dying of Rabies, a deadly disease transmitted from dogs to human beings, nearly 30,000 deaths occur in India, according to the World Health Organisation.
