Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and Centum Learning on Thursday announced the pilot launch of a programme to mobilise underprivileged youth for skills training. The initiative aims to help implement the skill development scheme under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship — Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana — which plans to reach over 2.4 million people across the country, the company said in a statement. The pilot in Bihar would cover a subscriber base of over 1.5 crore people. The scheme will later be rolled out pan-India by COAI-member telcos to cover 400 million subscribers, after the formal launch in July.
