The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Dinesh Gundu Rao has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who came to power on the development agenda, is doing communal politics now.

Addressing presspersons in Mangaluru on Tuesday, Rao said Modi wants to divert the attention of people in the fear of losing, and he is resorting to communal politics in the process. Modi does not want discussions on real issues facing the country, he said.

On the Centre’s decision to appoint the Lok Pal, he said the government should not have appointed a Lok Pal when the elections are there.

Stating that BJP does not understand the ground realities in the country, Rao said Congress would emerge as the single largest party in the country, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be pushed to the second position.

Terming Modi as a ‘marketing genius’, he said BJP had lost the elections in 2004 after its ‘India Shining’ campaign. The situation will be no different this time, he said.

Rao said electoral bonds are the corrupt form of election funding in the country. The Congress will do away with electoral bonds if it assumes power at the Centre, he said, adding that the BJP got huge amounts of funding through electoral bonds.
