After Japanese and Chinese leaders experienced the taste of Gujarat’s hospitality, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home State is all geared to welcome yet another international dignitary, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who arrives on a day-long visit to Gujarat on Wednesday accompanied by Modi.
On the itinerary of the Israeli Prime Minister is a visit to Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, where he would reach after conducting a roadshow with his Indian counterpart Prime Minister Modi. A similar roadshow was held for the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on his visit to Gujarat in September last year.
The two leaders developed cordial connect after Modi's visit to Israel in July last year — the first ever by an Indian Prime Minister. Netanyahu, along with his wife Sara, would visit the Gandhi Ashram on the banks of Sabarmati river.
After spending time on the iconic riverfront and Gandhi Ashram, the two leaders will visit International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology (iCreate near Sanand in Ahmedabad and inaugurate the newly built campus. iCreate was launched by Modi when he was the Chief Minister of the State in 2011.
Later in the day, the duo will visit a centre of excellence (CoE) for vegetables in Vadrad near Prantij in Sabarkantha district, set up under the India-Israel Agriculture Work Plan for exchange of advanced farming technology. They will also inaugurate a research facility for cultivation of dates in Kutch through remote. The CoE at Vadrad helps farmers to take up precision farming on vegetables and provides training and guidance on controlled farming techniques using net houses and seedlings developed at the ‘Plug Nursery’.
