Accusing the AAP of hypocrisy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday sharpened the BJP’s attacks against its bête noire in Delhi.
The focus of the attack was the donation received by the AAP, allegedly from dubious companies.
The Prime Minister, addressing a rally here on Tuesday, said he is being attacked for no reason as he belongs to a non-Nehru family like other stalwarts such as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Morarji Desai.
Though he attacked the Congress for “ruining Delhi”, his main target remained the AAP.
“While big and old Congress has ruined the city during its 15 years of regime, the temporary party (AAP), which is new and small, destroyed it for one year,” he said.
Modi said Delhi can’t be run through dishonesty and lies.
“Cleverness does not take you very far. We have given a test of fire to be where we are,” he said and advised the AAP to “show a limit for shamelessness”.
He said the AAP has betrayed the trust of people by taking donations from dubious companies.
“The people who would once go around with Swiss bank account numbers in their pockets don’t know whose money is coming into their accounts,” Modi added.
