The Congress on Tuesday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him a “narcissist”. Senior party spokesperson Anand Sharma said Modi’s attitude of ‘I, me and myself’ was revealed when he gave out a statement that if his luck was benefitting people nothing can be more fortunate.
“If because of my good luck, prices of petrol and diesel get reduced and the common man saves more, then what is the need for bringing in someone who is unlucky?” Modi had asked at a recent poll rally, reacting to the Congress saying he did not bring about the fall in prices.
Sharma said Modi’s “unhealthy mindset” should be a matter of national concern.
“In English, it is called narcissism,” he added.
Questioning the PM’s diplomatic skills, Sharma said it is unfair for Modi to claim that India was recognised only after he came to power.

“The Prime Minister is not actually edifying the office, (not) bringing glory. The style is a national embarrassment to my mind,” he added.
The former Commerce Minister also questioned the “surprising claims” of the Prime Minister that before May 16 India was not recognised the world over.
“It is a sign of unhealthy mindset to get carried away in this manner,” he said.
Modi is obsessed with repeatedly humiliating senior scientists and officers, Sharma said.
He questioned the removal of former Foreign Secretary Sujata Singh and Director of Defence Research and Development Organisation Avinash Chander. “No one should have been treated in this manner. A successful scientist was asked to go unceremoniously,” Sharma said.
