Chennai-based brands are considered the most attractive in categories such as automobiles, ayurvedic beauty products and kitchen appliances and have strong brand presence nationally, according to a brand analysis report.
The report, ‘India’s Most Attractive Brand 2016’, states that a total of 44 brands from Chennai appeared in the top 1,000 brand attractiveness listings as against 20 in 2015. The findings, released by TRA Research, a Comniscient group company, are based on a survey covering around 3,000 respondents from 16 cities.
Frontrunners Brands like Parryware and Preethi Appliances are frontrunners in sub-categories such as sanitaryware and kitchen appliances. Home-grown brands like Lion Dates and Ramraj Cotton are new entrants and are leaders in their respective categories.
Hatsun Agro products jumped 659 points and ranks fifth in attractiveness under the dairy-diversified category. It is ranked 629 in overall listings this year. Bovonto, a bottled drink, is ranked ninth under the aerated drinks category and is ranked 231 overall in 2016 as opposed to 448 last year.
Medimix is the leader in ayurvedic bath and beauty category and is ranked 167 in attractiveness quotient, a 318 point jump compared to last year. For the first time, CavinKare has come sixth and holds an overall rank of 370.
Apollo Hospitals is ranked second in attractiveness quotient next to Fortis and holds an overall rank of 683. MRF Tyres is the leader in the category and ranks 112 overall.
Speaking to media persons at the sidelines of the report launch in Chennai, Sachin Bhosle, Research Head, TRA Research, said brands in Chennai are reaching out to wider audience by improving the appeal of their products and connecting with the consumer. This change is visible in national brand listings, he added.
After Chennai, around nine brands based out of Bengaluru have made an appearance in the overall listings with category leaders Dell (Personal Technology), Sonata (Watches), Kingfisher (Alcoholic Beverages) and Infosys (Software Services). Around four brands from Hyderabad and seven brands from Kerala made it to the list of 1,000 most attractive brands in 2016.
