The National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (Nabard) has pegged the total credit projection for priority sector at Rs 83,388.87 crore for Telangana during 2018-19.
The credit projection was 14 per cent higher over the annual credit plan target for the year 2017-18, P Radhakrishnan, Chief General Manager, Nabard, said at the release of the state focus paper at the state credit seminar held here on Tuesday.
Credit projection for agriculture and allied sectors for 2018-19 was estimated at Rs 62,352.60 crore. An aggregate credit potential of Rs 16,008 crore has been made under agri, term lending/investment credit.
Investment credit continues to be the top priority for the policy makers and banks in view of its role as the precursor for capital formation in agriculture.
"The declining trend of investment credit in the state needs to be addressed urgently,’’ Radhakrishnan said.
To give a fillip to credit flow for investment in agriculture, Nabard has prepared area development schemes on two potential activities for each of the 30 rural districts in the state, he added.
