Naidu invites Gates, Eric Schmidt to partner AP on IT, digitisation drive

Bill Gates of Microsoft Corporation and Eric Schmidt of Google have assured Andhra Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu their support in various State initiatives.

At a separate meeting with Gates and Schmidt at Davos, both the top IT honchos assured support to AP in areas of education and digitisation initiatives. After attending a private dinner hosted by Bill Gates, the Chief Minister had a 40-minute meeting with him.

During his meeting, the Chief Minister gave a presentation on AP’s Innovation and Start-up Policy and also about the skill development programme to Gates.

Gates assured the CM that he would support Andhra Pradesh in technology, application development, start-ups initiative, education, health and immunization programmes.

The Microsoft co-founder said he would explore the possibility of setting up Microsoft Development Centre in Andhra Pradesh on Chief Minister’s request.

In another meeting with Google chairman Eric Schmidt, the Chief Minister got an assurance from him that the company would support AP in its digital literacy programme. The Chief Minister has extended his stay by another day and will return on Sunday.

On Saturday, he will be meeting industrialists and discuss about investment opportunities in AP.
