The Telugu Desam Legislature Party (TDLP) has elected TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu as its leader, paving the way for his appointment as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. At the meeting held at the temple town of Tirupati, Naidu’s name was proposed by senior TDP leader KE Krishnamurthy and he was unanimously chosen as the legislature party leader.
This will pave the way for his being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (Seemandhra) post the carving out of the new State of Telangana. Naidu is expected to take oath on June 8 near Guntur at a grand event to be graced by leaders.
He has extended an invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several chief ministers including K Chandrasekhar Rao, Chief Minister of Telangana.
After being sworn in, Naidu is likely to announce his first major decision about crop loan waiver and loan waiver to women self-help groups.
These were amongst the key election promises he made during the campaign.
