Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has invited Chinese electronics, mobile phone, cement and other manufacturing companies to the State, calling upon them to establish their facilities, assuring necessary support and swift clearances.
On a tour to China along with Cabinet colleague Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and senior officials, Naidu met officials of Xiaomi, Foxconn, Siemens, Huawei and a number of other companies inviting them to locate their manufacturing units and support facilities.
During the tour he called on Chinese Vice-Premier Wang Yang and invited him to visit the State. According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, a representative of Foxconn indicated at big investments in India over next three years focusing on smartphones, software, TVs and other electronic items.
In Beijing, he met executives from Chinese low-cost smartphone maker Xiaomi and electronics manufacturer Foxconn. The Chief Minister said that Andhra Pradesh could emerge as an electronics hub to substitute to India’s hardware imports which are nearly $50 billion.
Xiaomi India head Manu Jain, and Josh Fougler, Vice-President of Foxconn, interacted with the visiting team. Seimens Senior Vice-President Müslüm Yakisan said the company was interested in infrastructure projects in India spanning rail, roads and ports.
Memorandum signed The Chief Minister asked the company executives to be part of development of new capital city of Amaravathi and take up a pilot project for 10-15 km within the city. After a lunch hosted by HSBC, a Government-to-Business (G2B) Memorandum of Understanding with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) was signed. The Chief Minister also asked Huawei to consider hardware manufacturing in the State.
Sinoma International Engineering, which operates in equipment manufacturing and supply and engineering sector, has expressed its interest in investing in cement and wind energy projects.
