The Delhi government has criticised the Union Budget for not allocating a single extra rupee for it in terms of its share in Central taxes.

“In the Union Budget 2017-18, the share in Central Taxes of Delhi has not been increased from Rs 325 crore, which has been stagnant since 2001-02. The Government of NCT of Delhi deserves its legitimate share in Central Taxes to finance various developmental projects,” said an official statement.

The Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi has been demanding that the Centre enhance the allocation to at least Rs 5,000 crore as share in Central taxes.

The state government said it was also disappointed that the Budget had not earmarked any funds to local bodies in the NCT of Delhi, as also the Normal Central Assistance, which remains the same in 2017-18 at Rs 412.99 crore. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had demanded Rs 1,000 crore in his pre-Budget presentation to the Finance Minister.
