Kerala BJP president Kummanam Rajasekharan is ‘not sure’ if actor Suresh Gopi, who is being nominated as a Rajya Sabha member, is a party member.
The decision to field him is a well-conceived one taken by the national party leadership after giving due weightage to his contributions as a thespian, Rajasekharan said.
The party would extend all support to Gopi with regard to discharge of duties and responsibilities as a member of the Upper House, he told newspersons here. He dismissed imputations that the State leadership was not consulted in the matter. “The decision is purely an internal affair of the party and we will abide by it,” he said.
