Now, you can make monetary offerings to the hundi at the famed Tirumala temple using your mobile phones.
Making this feasible is the Andhra Bank, which has facilitated the e-hundi facility at the Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirupathi.
The Bank's chairman and managing director, C.V.R. Rajendran and Joint Executive Officer of the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD), K.S. Sreenivasa Raju formally launched the facility on Friday.
The e-hundi facilitates instant credit of one's offerings into Srivari e-hundi account maintained by the bank. Andhra bank will not charge the donor or the TTD for the facility.
Rajendran announced the extensive use of the mobile phone platform to enable banking transactions and explained the various e-products offered by the bank. The bank chose Tirumala for the concept after successfully launching the facility at the Shirdi Sai Samsthan and Siddhi Vinayak temple (Mumbai).
"The Palani, Guruvayoor and Velankanni are the next well known religious places in the pipeline", he said.
