National Small Industries Corporation Ltd (NSIC) is planning to relax its norms to cover the unregistered small-scale enterprises under its schemes.
According to J.K. Mahanta, Zonal General Manager, East and North East, NSIC, nearly 80 per cent of the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are unregistered. Therefore, he said, they cannot avail themselves of the assistance and financing schemes of NSIC.
“We are considering over removing registration as a criteria for the companies to get financing schemes,” Mahanta said here on Tuesday.
He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a seminar on business opportunities for MSMEs with power sector organised by the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The companies will, however, have to be registered to avail themselves of the subsidy and exhibition facilitation schemes of NSIC.
