Odd-even scheme: DTC registers 2,500 private buses

Private bus owners that run services on contract carriages can offer their buses for plying on Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) routes, with the transport corporation extending the date of registration for private and school buses till December 30.

“We have already engaged about 2,500 buses from January 1 to January 15. The registration process is on. Today, we added 70 buses. The buses will be paid on per kilometre basis based on a pre-determined formula,” RS Minhas, DTC spokesperson, told BusinessLine . DTC has an existing fleet of 4,500 buses. DTC’s route optimisation team has an idea of the load-factor on various and will press into service more buses on specific routes. With a view to providing more buses to commuters during the implementation of the odd-even formula for cars in the city, DTC has decided to engage private and school buses to be run under its operation from January 1 to 15.
