Over a lakh farmers are expected to descend on New Delhi’s Parliament Street on November 20 with 180 farmer groups from across the country organising a major protest meeting.
The decision to hold Kisan Mukti Sansad in Delhi was taken on Saturday at a general body meeting of All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC), an umbrella body of 180 farmer organisations from 20 States.
Farmer groups have been demanding farm loan waivers and fixing of minimum support price of agri produce at one and a half times that of the cost of production.
The resolutions passed at the Kisan Mukti Sansad would be sent to all major political parties so that the demands can be raised in the Parliament, a statement issued by AIKSCC said.
The representatives of farmer groups participated in AIKSCC meeting also expressed concern over the falling prices of farm produce, increasing farmer suicides and rainfall deficit in large number of districts in the country.
