About 2,000 persons, including employees and their families of Hindustan Photo Films (HPF) Manufacturing Co Ltd today observed one-day fast in this tourist town, to draw the attention of both the Centre and Tamil Nadu governments on the need to revive the unit, considered once as one of the best in entire Asia region.
The unit was almost on the verge of closure for the last one decade and the Centre had announced a revival package, following intervention of the then union communications minister, A Raja, representing the Nilgiris Parliamentary constituency.
However, the restructuring package was later rejected by the Centre.
