The Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar today directed for digitisation of all Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) and cooperative banks in the state to ensure transparency in its function.
He asked the Cooperative department to start digitisation of the PACs and the cooperative banks to ensure transparency in the function of these institutions after hearing a presentative made by the officials about benefits of the measure.
The digitisation of PACs and the cooperative banks will help in implementation of various schemes related to agriculture — the core economic sector in Bihar — and ensure that the farmers get fertilisers and seeds in transparent manner.
The procurement of rice and wheat and crop insurance could also take place properly after the PACS and cooperative banks were digitised, the Chief Minister said.
