Palakkad Division of Southern Railways has deputed 154 track maintainers and four supervisors for track restoration work in the flood-hit Chennai area in compliance with the directions of Principal Chief Engineer of Southern Railway.
A press release said that the team would report before the Assistant Divisional Engineer, Chengalpet, this afternoon (December 4). The team would strive for the early restoration of railway tracks and thereby pave way for the possibility of resumption of train services, in view of the reduced rainfall and receding water level in Chennai, the release added.
