Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu-led panel of Chief Ministers on digital payments submitted its interim report to Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Tuesday.
Maintaining that more should be done to develop the infrastructure to create a cash-less society, Naidu said the biggest stumbling block is attitude of people and governments. He said hardware, including the acceptance infrastructure, should be developed by the governments. Infrastructure on data should also be developed. The panel has recommended a number of sops, including a levy of cash transaction tax for cash transactions of ₹50,000 and above. He said no retrospective taxation should be levied on merchants doing digital transactions.
