The Palakkad division of Southern Railway will conduct a passenger safety drive till June 20.
A press release said here on Tuesday that incidents such as rail passengers falling from the train through the open emergency windows are being reported.
To curb such incidents, Piyush Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, Palakkad, had a discussion with his senior officers. He has ordered to conduct a safety drive for 10 days from June 10-20 in this regard.
During the passenger safety drive, ticket-checking officials and supervisors of the Palakkad division will conduct checks with the help of Railway Protection Force personnel to find out whether the emergency windows in the passenger-carrying coaches are properly closed.
If the window is not in closed condition, they will advise and counsel the passengers to close such windows. They will also explain the seriousness of keeping the emergency windows open. This drive will be conducted in all passengers and express trains running in the division, the release added.
