Puducherry will have a Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) from September end. This will receive applications from Cuddalore and Villupuram districts in Tamil Nadu and Karaikal in Puducherry, according to K Balamurugan, Regional Passport Officer, Chennai.
He told a press conference here on Monday that the passport office received 150-200 applications from Puducherry in a day. The PSK will reduce the strain on Chennai.
Balamurugan said thanks to various initiatives the number of days to book an appointment had come down to three from 21.
Common Service Centres, available in Chennai since June 10, will be extended across the State in 254 taluks. This will help applicants in filling online passport application form, paying the fee and scheduling appointments for ₹100 per application.
