On Sunday, when the Congress plans to hold a mega rally on the Land Bill to expose the BJP’s “pro-corporate and anti-poor” stance, BJP MPs will each pay ₹500 to attend a workshop on the government’s poverty alleviation schemes.
In a statement on Friday, the BJP announced the day-long workshop “Garib Kalyan Yojnaye (Poverty Alleviation Schemes): Effective Implementation and Role of the MP”.
The workshop will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BJP president Amit Shah will address the concluding session while other senior ministers will “guide, motivate and appraise the MPs on the effective implementation of Centrally-sponsored schemes”.
Increasing awarenessThe workshop is being organised in association with the RSS think tank Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini. It will focus on increasing awareness about several welfare schemes launched by various ministries.
The agenda will include highlighting of various Central government welfare schemes, the role of MPs in executing them and and follow-up on their implementation.
Parliament Affairs and Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu will present a theme paper at the inaugural session.
A session on “Garib Kalyan Yojnaye” will be chaired by Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot. Director-General of Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini and BJP Vice-President Vinay Sahasrabuddhe will make a presentation about welfare schemes launched by different ministries.
The second session, on rural and urban development schemes, will be chaired by Rural Development Minister Chaudhary Birendra Singh.
Union Minister for Road Transport and National Highways Nitin Gadkari will talk about the Sansad Aadarsh Gram Yojana and Health Minister JP Nadda will pesent a paper on MPLADS.
Development agendaExternal Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will speak on “Development Agenda: Its Social Dimension and the Need to Follow Up”.
The registration for the workshop will begin at 9 am and the fee is ₹500.
