A day after Dalit boy Ilavarasan was found dead along a railway track in Dharmapuri, a special mention was today made before Madras High Court seeking a CBI probe into the incident and police protection to his wife Divya.
Advocate Vaigai made the mention before Division Bench, comprising Justices M Jayachandran and M M Sundresh, which was hearing the Habeas Corpus petition of Divya.
The matter will be taken up later in the day.
Meanwhile, another petition by advocate Sankarasubbu sought to include a doctor of the choice of Ilavarasan’s parents in the team who will conduct the post mortem on his body.
A Division Bench comprising Justices V Dhanapalan and C T Selvam will hear the matter later in the day.
Ilavarasan, whose marriage to an upper caste Hindu girl Divya triggered anti-Dalit violence in three villages of the district in November last, was found dead along a railway track here yesterday, a day after his wife said she would never go back to him.
His death triggered tension in Naickenkottai village with Dalit residents thronging Government Medical College hospital, where his body has been kept.
Police clamped Prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC and posted armed personnel in sensitive areas.
