Prime Minister Narendra Modi today assured Andhra Pradesh Government of honouring all promises made by the previous (UPA) Government.
After laying the foundation stone for the capital city of Amaravati at a grand function at Uddhandrayunipalem in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, he said the division was forced without proper background work on the division.
He cited the example of how three new States were created during the Atal Behari Vajpayee Government and there have been no issues with them.
The Prime Minister played the local cord speaking in Telugu. He brought mud from Parliament and water from Yamuna river to be mixed at a centre created by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister where water from about 30 rivers across the country would be placed at a special monument.
Naidu said that building a world class capital was a life time opportunity and experts from Singapore and Japan would be encouraged to develop and support the infrastructure.
The event, which was conducted amidst chanting of Vedic hymns, and where a couple of lakhs of people participated.
As AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu conducted the Prime Minister, Union Ministers and dignitaries from Singapore and Japan went around the time capsule on Amaravati.
Mentioning about the 100 Smart Cities project, he said a concerted effort would have to be made to implement the project.
Apart from assuring the Centre support to Andhra Pradesh, he felt there is potential to encourage start ups in the State.
Among those to take part included Governor ESL Narasimhan, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah among others.
Rao was a big draw for the crowds who had gathered there, indicating better tidings ahead.
Rao assured all necessary support from Telangana in building a new Capital.
