In the wake of allegations of misbehaviour by a city bus crew with two Bhutan women passengers, city police on Friday asked the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) to install CCTV cameras in their buses.
Bangalore City Police Commissioner Jyotiprakash Mirji told reporters that the suggestion to install CCTV cameras has been mooted with a view to checking the menace of pickpocket, atrocities against women and senior citizens in buses.
During a recent meeting with BMTC, the issue of installing CCTV cameras to help senior citizens was discussed, he said.
Two women travellers had complained to BMTC two days ago about unruly behaviour of its crew in one of the buses and the corporation has already instituted a probe into it.
