Pranab meets Congress lawmakers in Hyderabad

Seeking support: The UPA Presidential candidate, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, makes an appeal to party legislators from Andhra Pradesh to vote for his candidature, at a meeting in Hyderabad on Sunday. Also seen are: Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, UnionMinister for Health and in-charge of AP affairs; Mr Botcha Satyanarayana, PCC President; and Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister; and party MPs and MLAs.

The UPA nominee, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, today met the ruling Congress MPs, MLAs and MLCs, as part of his campaign for the July 19 Presidential election.

Mr Mukherjee, who arrived here from Chennai this morning, met the Congress legislators and the Union Ministers at the Jubilee Hall here.

In a brief interaction with media after the meeting, the 77-year-old Mr Mukherjee expressed gratitude to all parties who have extended their support to his candidature.

He said he had also appealed to those parties that are undecided on whom to support in the Presidential election to support him.

Meanwhile, a fire broke out at the Jubilee Hall, the venue of the meeting, shortly after Mr Mukherjee and other leaders, including the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, had left the venue. The blaze was doused by fire tenders that were rushed to the spot.
