The State Government is giving priority to the progress of Bundelkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh as they are among the under-developed belts of the state, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said here today.
Special emphasis is being given to bring these two regions at par with rest of the state, he said after inaugurating a Science Congress at DDU Gorakhpur University.
Due to the lack of opportunities in eastern UP, the vast talent in the region is going in waste, Akhilesh said, adding agriculture and development of farmers were among the top priorities of his Government.
Akhilesh announced Rs 7 crore projects for various infrastructural and other facilities in DDU Gorakhpur University.
Sustainable and inclusive development is the need of the hour, he said.
The CM added scientists, technocrats, teachers, industrialists and policy makers should jointly make efforts to uplift the living standards of a common man.
The three-day UP Science Congress will discuss the role of Science in shaping the future of the state.
Eight eminent scientists, Nitya Anand, P K Seth, Chunnilal Khetrapal, Shyam Swaroop Agrawal, H N Verma, Qamar Rahman, Radhey Shyam Tripathi and Vedprakash Kamboj were awarded Vigyan Bhushan Samman for their achievements in different fields of Science.
During his visit to the varsity, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a Science and Technology Exhibition Expo-2013.
