Probe into Muzaffarnagar welfare scam

The Uttar Pradesh Government on Monday said probe into the multi-crore social welfare scam in the district is underway and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.

Speaking here today, Social Welfare Minister Avdhesh Prasad said cases against 90 officials in various other districts of the State have also been registered following charges of misappropriation of funds.

He said all measures are being taken to ensure that such a misuse of government funds does not take place in future. As many as 11 cases against various district officials have been registered so far in connection with the scam.

A former district welfare officer Rinku Singh Rahi had alleged a multi-crore scam in the social welfare department, after which the State Government had ordered a probe into his charges.
