Congress president Rahul Gandhi made a serious allegation against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on the floor of Lok Sabha while debating on the no confidence motion moved by the TDP against the Centre.
Rahul Gandhi said the Defence Minister told the country that the price of Rafale jets cannot be disclosed due to a secret pact with France.
The Amethi MP said when he met the French President in Delhi, Emmanuel Macron had told him that there was no such secret pact. "The Defence Minister lied to the country. Whom is she trying to protect? She must tell that to the country. She has spoken an untruth," Rahul Gandhi said.
He said everybody understands the relationship Modi has with some business people. "One of them was given the Rafale contract and the gentleman benefited with ₹45,000 crore," he said, and added that public sector helicopter unit HAL was denied an opportunity. "Why this contract was taken away from HAL? PM must explain. PM has not been truthful," he said.
He said the BJP offered ₹15 lakh to every citizen and it was the first jumla. "The second was the promise of two crore jobs in a year but it was never fulfiled. In 2016-2017, just four lakh employments were created," he said. He added that the Centre gives a mere 400 jobs in 24 hours while China creates 50000 employment opportunities in the same time. "Unemployment rate is the highest in the country. This is Modi's biggest contribution," he added.
