It’s just a matter of time before Rahul Gandhi returns to active politics, charged-up and stronger, says senior Congress leader AK Antony.
Speaking at a party function here, Antony said that Gandhi had taken time off to take a well-deserved break from the hustle and bustle of election-time politics.
“The Congress party will come back strongly to the reckoning under the joint leadership of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi,” he told a ward-level meeting of partymen preparing for the local body polls later this year.
Narendra Modi simply lacks the poise and skill to take the country as an integrated entity in these times of varied challenges, he said. Antony also warned partymen against being complacent about their prospects in the local body polls.
The party needed to be doubly careful about credentials of candidates being chosen.
“You cannot afford to impose a candidate of your choice on them and expect him or her to win,” he said.
