Pune-based building materials maker Sahyadri Industries Ltd on Thursday launched 'Do-It-Yourself Toilet Blocks'. These toilet blocks are economical, easy to erect and environment friendly as against a concrete structure for toilets, informed top officials of the company.
The make-shift toilets have a shelf life of 25 years and can be set up anywhere in rural or urban areas. At the launch of the product in Gujarat, company's president - sales and marketing, M Satyanarayana informed that the company will promote these toilets with the help of local authorities, NGOs and direct costomers.
"This is cost effective and efficient sanitation solution pricing in the range of Rs 19,000-25,000 per unit. These are the designer green toilets that can be installed in any terrain of little resources like tribal , hilly areas , tourist spots , forts and also residential and school premises," said Satyanarayana at a media briefing here.
The company has already approached Railways, Defence, Public transport authorities in states like Maharashtra and Gujarat among others for setting up these toilet blocks.
Having a turnover of Rs 372 crore (2013-14), the company will manufacture these blocks at its six units located across the country includng one in Gujarat at Surat. The company had posted net loss of Rs 6 crore last fiscal.
"We are targetting to double our exports and also our overall turnover this fiscal. Last year our exports were about Rs 100 crore," he added.
The company's shares jumped 5 per cent and hit upper circuit at Rs 80.50 on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Friday. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 94.40 earlier this month, while it had touched a 52-week low of Rs 28.40 in February this year.
