Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has said that the death of Sarabjit Singh is the case of extra-judicial killing in Pakistan.
Addressing an election rally in Mangalore on Thursday, he said that quarrels keep happening among jail inmates in every country. Sometimes, such quarrels lead to some untoward incidents.
He said that quarrels never happen in the death row prisoner’s cell in any country. The death row prisoners are kept in isolated cells. They are not allowed to mingle with other jail inmates.
In this case, Sarabjit was attacked inside the jail in Pakistan. This is the case of extra-judicial killing of Sarabjit Singh in Pakistan, he said.
Modi said that India should have mobilised the opinions of other countries on this issue. “But the Indian Government left the entire issue to his family,” he said.
It may be mentioned here that Sarabjit sustained injuries, including a fractured skull, when he was attacked by other prisoners in a Pakistani jail last week. He was hit on the head with bricks and was in comatose in a Lahore hospital.
