Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi has said that the death of Sarabjit Singh in Pakistan is a case of extra-judicial killing .
Addressing an election rally in Mangalore on Thursday, he said that quarrels keep happening among jail inmates in every country. Sometimes such quarrels lead to some untoward incidents.
He said that quarrels, however, never happen in the death row prisoner’s cell in any country. The death row prisoners are kept in isolated cells. They are not allowed to mingle with other jail inmates.
Modi said India should have mobilised support from other countries on this issue. “But the Indian government left the entire issue to his family,” he said.
Sarabjit had sustained injuries, including a fractured skull, when he was attacked by other prisoners in a Pakistani jail last week. He was hit on the head with bricks and was in a comatose state in a Lahore hospital.
