Jailed AIADMK leader VK Sasikala was on Friday granted five-day emergency parole to meet her husband M Natarajan, who is recuperating after a surgery.

Stiff conditions The Parappana Agrahara prison here granted her parole from October 6 to 11 with a set of stiff conditions restricting her movements outside the jail.

She is not allowed to visit any hospital other than the one where her husband has been admitted; she should stay only at the residence mentioned in her application; she cannot entertain any visitor either at the hospital or at her place of residence; she shouldn’t involve herself in any party, political or public activity; and she shouldn’t interact with the media.

Sasikala in her application had sought a 15-day parole to be with her husband, who underwent a liver and kidney transplant on Wednesday.

He was admitted to hospital last month after a multiple organ failure. Sasikala was granted only a five-day parole.

Soon after completing the required formalities, Sasikala, accompanied by her nephew TTV Dhinakaran, headed for Chennai by road.

The Supreme Court had earlier this year sentenced the AIADMK leader to four years of jail in a corruption case. Sasikala was in the news recently over allegations that she had paid ₹2 crore for VIP treatment and facilities like special meals, a suite of rooms and a flat-screen TV.

Sasikala was a confidante of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa and shared her Poes Garden residence in Chennai.
