A day after the BJP-led Government won the floor test in the State Assembly through a voice vote, the Shiv Sena will today meet Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao to demand a fresh floor test be conducted for the BJP to prove its majority.
“We have taken an appointment with the Governor and will be meeting him at 4 pm. The Leader of the Opposition (Eknath Shinde) will ask the Governor to re-conduct the floor test so that the BJP can legally prove that they are a majority,” senior Sena leader Ramdas Kadam, told PTI.
“The Governor had asked the BJP to prove a majority. But by going in for a voice vote, they have gone against the laws of the country. We being the principle opposition will not tolerate this,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Sena today accused the BJP Government of violating constitutional provisions by proving its majority amid high chaos and strangulating age-old traditions of the State as it won the trust vote through voice vote amid protests at the State Assembly yesterday.
