Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, along with his brother Rayapati Srinivas, and their followers, formally joined the Telugu Desam Party today.
TDP chief, N Chandrababu Naidu, inducted them into the party in the presence of other leaders, including industrialist Jaydev Galla, who had recently joined TDP.
After joining the TDP, Rao said that he will strengthen TDP and ensure that it wins all the 17 Assembly and three Lok Sabha seats from the district.
He may be fielded from Narsaraopet constituency, sources said.
