A Singapore delegation of consultants today outlined their plans to work on development of new Capital city and highlighted that there is immense scope to attract private sector participation in building infrastructure.
During a meeting with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, various models for development suggested by the consultants were reviewed.
The private sector investments could be in latest technologies, innovation and creation of infrastructure.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, Singapore consultants and advisors said they would assist the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) strategize and focus on key areas in the capital such as infrastructure planning, development control, housing, solid waste management and integrated transport systems.
They suggested that the processes and systems need to be streamlined and the State has to make the environment conducive for private investors through policy changes and faster clearances.
The Chief Minister wanted the Singapore Government to work with AP on solid waste management and on revamping municipalities. Before taking up integrated solid waste management, an expert suggested Andhra Pradesh needs to streamline garbage collection and segregation of waste and create awareness among people.
As part of the partnerships between the Governments of Andhra Pradesh and Singapore, officials from both sides will work with the CRDA on identifying local growth engines and revenue generators.
Singapore is associated with AP in the areas of planning, transport, housing, economic development, land use, environment and parks, utilities and capital city development.
It is proposed to focus on strategies that will enable the government to power all the industrial and revenue-generating nodes at once, instead of doing it unevenly.
